High School CTE Alignments

VA Game Design & Development

Mastery Coding has developed a 2-year course sequence solution to support the Virginia Game Design & Development pathway utilizing the following courses:

  • MC-VA Game Design & Development (Course Code: 8400)
  • MC-VA Game Design & Development, Advanced (Course Code: 8401)

These courses incorporate the following Virginia standards, preparing students to apply skills including C# scripting, program customization, program analysis, and application design. Industry standards are used in all Mastery Coding courses providing real world programming experience for students in the following areas:

  • Logic, Critical Thinking, and Problem Solving
  • Beginning Application Development (Coding)
  • Advanced Application Development (Database, Files, Security, Storage)
  • Program Analysis and Design
  • Programming Fundamentals and Syntax
  • Leadership and Teamwork

Certifications

When students complete this pathway, they will be prepared to attain the following industry-recognized certifications.

Unity Certified Associate: Game Developer

Unity User: Programmer

Middle School Alignments

Computer Science

Mastery Coding has developed two courses that can be used in to supplement 6th Grade Computer Science education.

  • Web Development Foundations
  • Game Development Foundations

These courses partially align to Virginia's Computer Science Standards of Learning with a strong alignment to the standards regarding Algorithms and Programming. Web Development Foundations and Game Development Foundations are entry level courses designed for students with no prior experience in computer science or programming.
